Ask & Seek
Good Morning,
The familiar passage in Matthew gives us simple guidance regarding soul winning.
Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
vs. 8 “For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
Placing these two verses into our ministry of soul winning, bringing converts into the church, and growing in grace I quote, “All our failures are prayer failures.”
Pray for souls to be saved; pray earnestly and faithfully. Then SEEK. We ought to be praying faithfully for souls to be saved, but we must SEEK the lost. All will not listen; all will not be ready to grasp the truth, of course, some are saved already, but SEEK.
That is as far as I need to go in this lesson today. Are we praying faithfully that God will lead us to the lost in need of salvation, and are we looking? Is our church praying for souls to be saved, young and old, and are we SEEKING?
If there is no planned time to go, and if there is no “line in the water,” you will catch no fish. We ought to be praying daily for the lost, but we must have a plan to seek. A good fisherman does not randomly find water and throw in a line – it could be a swimming pool. I have noticed that in each setting, the way to catch fish is a little different: streams, mountain lakes, ponds, and large bodies of water. I will try to find someone who catches fish to give me a few pointers.
Would you begin to pray for the lost to be saved? Will you set up a time and plan to go SEEKING? I believe we ought to carry tracts and use those unplanned opportunities to win someone, but having a set schedule is so very important.
